NCR Corp. has no plans on changing the name on its 9,000 Blockbuster Express DVD rental kiosks, despite the letter it received from Dish Network demanding it to stop using the trademark.
"We are going to continue to rent movies under the Blockbuster Express brand," said Jeff Dudash of NCR.
Despite recent reports that Dish has already brought the issue before the court system, Dudash said the only item that is up for a decision is a marketing alliance between NCR and Blockbuster, which will not affect the naming rights.
Dudash explained that the Blockbuster name, design and trademarks are held by a 2009 trust that wasn't part of Blockbuster's bankruptcy filing.
"We believe the termination notice is invalid," Dudash said.
Dish Network could not be reached for comment.
